Research Ⅱ

Hello.
I did some research and here are what I found.

How many animals went extinct by human activities?

On wikipedia, it says 67 species made extinct by human. Other website says there are 322 species, I thought there are no official records about this, so I picked up only species remained on record.

1, Tasmanian Tiger
They were declared extinct in 1930s. Settler hunted tasmanian tigers because they were the largest arnivorous marsupials.

2, Quagga
This animal looked like between zebra and horse, and its unique and beautiful hides cought hunters' attention and were wiped out by 1870s.

3, Dodo Bird
A dodo bird is a flightless bird which went extinct within 100 years. Dutch sailors ate them and they were so easy to catch because they didn't have fear of humans.

Where do puppies and kittens in pet shops come from?

Many people probably like to visit pet shops to see little cute puppies and kittens, but have you ever wondered why there are only puppies and kittens, not adult dogs or cats?

Well, the answer is "puppy mills" (in case of puppies).
Then what is puppy mills?
Puppy mills are dog breeding facilities where house dogs in too crowded and unsanitary condition. Dogs in puppy mills are denied socialization, exercise and veterinary care.  There, profits are more important than well-being of the dogs. Puppies born in there are taken from their mothers at early ages and packed in crates and sold to pet shops.
They tend to have congenital and hereditary conditions such as heart disease and blood and respiratory disorders. Moreover, they tend to suffer from fear, anxiety and other behavioral problems because they are separated from their mothers and littermate

When did Animal Rights Movement begin?

The movement (the new, modern Animal Rights Movement) is said that it has begun with the publication of "Animal Liberation" by philosopher, Peter Singer in 1975. This book is now regarded as the bible of the movement. Singer popularized the word "speciesism" in his book, a belief of humans that all other species of animals are inferior and may therefore be used for human benefit without regard to the suffering inflicted.
